Antique Furniture

One of my weaknesses with regards to antiques, and I have just a few, is late nineteenth century oak barley twist furnishings. The graceful deep patina and the smooth gentle curves is so sexy. Actually! The primary antique furnishings I ever bought was a barley twist – and I’ve been hooked ever since. I can’t imagine the time, patience, and expertise it will have taken to be able to hand carve the curve just right. Many an apprentice were most likely pushed made by their woodworking masters with this design! Even taking a look at how these are made on lathe makes me loopy.
