At this time I find myself reflecting on my childhood. It amazes me that in lots of ways I’ve come full circle. As a baby, I wandered the hill that I grew up on. I cared for every stray animal that showed up at my door. I spent countless hours outdoors portray, drawing and daydreaming. The things that brought me pleasure as a child nonetheless convey me joy. I allowed someone to decrease these elements of me. I’ll never permit that to happen again. I’M an artist. I AM an animal lover. I AM a country lady. I’m going to embrace these parts of me and thank God day-after-day for making me talented, compassionate and appreciative of the world round me. I hope this encourages my kids to observe their passions.

Orient & Flume was based in 1972 by famous glass artist Douglas Boyd. The corporate’s distinctive name was derived from its location between Orient Road and Flume Street in Chico, California. It was at this location that Douglas purchased an historic carriage house and reworked it into an art glass studio. The studio’s beautiful artwork glass creations rapidly became widespread and by 1973 the enterprise had grown too giant for the small carriage home. The company was then relocated to Park Avenue in Chico where it remains to this very day.
