While the history of quilting is fraught with many examples of possible origins relationship again so far as biblical times with the story of Josephs ‘Coat of Many Colours’, it is generally agreed that the extra traditional American/European had it’s start with the patchwork quilts within the 1780’s. Patchwork quilts in essence had been quilting for the beginner, in that scraps of fabric had been sewn together to offer clothing and blankets as a matter of shortage and necessity.

The San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles in California also shows conventional and modern quilts. There may be free admission to the museum on the first Friday of each month, as part of the San Jose Artwork Walk. Wow. These are awesome. Even in case you don’t make your personal quilts, you will need to document no matter paintings you do make, and quilts and art work which have been handed all the way down to you. No papers right here…only a good tracing line and operating stitches. It permits me to press the seams to at least one side, which keeps the possibilities for longarm quilting countless. I never know when I would need to ditch stitch someplace, and a pressed open seam makes that a total PIA! I am glad to announce I’ll be participating in a little bit Christmas in July sew along with Sew Lux Fabric. So glad that your back to your artistic self.
